Deceptive Practices - Optima

By: fusion24

I have been a card holder for many years. In 2009 I contacted the company to request help due to financial hardship, they set me up with a payment plan that was hardly a help, however, I did take the offer. Pending final divorce my husband had been paying the charges until he lost his job. I could not pay the montly rate and they informed me that the account might go to collection.

Shortly after, I finally picked up the phone when "American express" called and explained the situation and worked out another deal with the company. So I thought, I receive a letter from the collection agency that was actually the one that called me. I received no notification from Amex that it had been sent to collection and in fact received a letter from Amex confirming that I was now working with GC. I still receive a statement, from Amex though when I called they told me that they no longer consider me a customer and won't admit to being fraudulent. They could care less what GC says or does and now I am paying off a collector, when I thought (and was told) I was on my way to reinstating my card. Amex was nasty and rude and insinuated that I was the one who was criminal. I will NEVER use them again and suggest that no one else deals with them either.
