Left Amex after 14 years - service gone downhill! - Customer Service Issues

After 14 years with AMEX & a perfect credit rating, I have left! I'm very tired of sarcastic, untrained customer service people who say that they have taken care of any issues you have - only to find out that they haven't!

Had a decent experience with Amex until this year. Recently, the latest issue started out as a very simple situation.


I was charged $1,600 & refunded the $1,600 back to my credit card on the same day, which happened around when the statement was generated. Amex acknowledged the refund was there, but didn't appear on my current statement, so when I spoke to the 1st customer service person who promised that they would make a note on my account to allow me to pay the full balance, minus this $1,600. I always pay off my full balance by the due date, so just before I did so, I called another day to confirm that this was the case, to avoid interest charges. When I called on this day, not only did I find out that this was not done, the customer service person was rude and would not rectify this situation. 10 phone calls later, trying to be connected to a Supervisor or Manager, I have had to deal with sarcastic, unprofessional & untrained customer service people.

Not ONCE have I ever been given access to either a Manager or Supervisor and my issues remain unresolved. I called it quits, cancelling both my business and personal cards, after 14 years! I will keep my business elsewhere - where it is appreciated!
